The Dish of the Week
The Ingredients
1/3 Cup lard or cooking oil
1 onion, chopped
11/2 pound fresh cabbage
Salt
1/2 pound ground pork or beef(I used ground beef)
1/2 cup rice(I used white rice)
1 Cup of water
3/4 Cup sour cream
2-3 eggs beaten( I used 2 eggs)
The Instructions
Heat 21/2 tbsp of the oil on medium high and sauté your onion. Once the onion is soft, add the cabbage and salt to taste, and continue to sauté until your cabbage is soft.
In a separate skillet heat your remaining oil on medium high and brown your meat. When it is nearly brown add your rice and continue to sauté and add 1 Cup of water. When the rice is almost done, remove from heat.
Preheat your oven to 350. Grease a casserole dish(I used an 8×8 dish), and start layering your meat mixture and your cabbage. Make sure to start and end with the cabbage. Add the sour cream to the beaten eggs and mix well. Pour the sour cream and egg mixture over the top of your casserole. Bake for about 40 min. If the top is getting brown too quickly, cover your dish with foil. Serve hot.

” I liked everything about this. I would recommend this for a breakfast meal, but it could be made for any meal, really. I’d also put more sour cream on it, but that’s just my preference.”

” I do not like eggs or sour cream, so this was the main reason I wasn’t a fan of this dish. It also could’ve used more seasoning.”
